Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rain forces closure of schools in Shimla, Mandi
Shimla, Aug 13: After heavy overnight rains, most of the roads in the interiors of Himachal Pradesh remained closed to traffic on Monday, stranding hundreds of travellers and commuters. All schools including private, across Shimla and Mandi districts are closed on Monday.

Five persons buried under a landslide
Reports said five persons were buried under a landslide in Kandaghat area in Solan district. One of them reportedly died as rescue work is still on.

Badrinath National Highway closed
The Badrinath National Highway in Uttarakhand is also closed since last night at Lambgarh after heavy rains brought down debris onto the road. The road clearing operation by the local administration is underway.

More rainfall predicted for next 2 days
According to the Met office, moderate to heavy showers have occurred in most parts of the state since Sunday. Most places in Himachal Pradesh received rains since yesterday, with the weatherman forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in mid and low hills of the state for the next two days.
