Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu Targets Rebels Over Rajya Sabha Poll Cross-Voting

In a recent public address at Galore, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu delivered pointed remarks towards six former Congress MLAs who have been accused of cross-voting in favour of the BJP candidate during the Rajya Sabha polls. The Chief Minister's comments shed light on the ongoing political turmoil within the state, hinting at allegations of financial inducements and betrayals.

CM Sukhu Targets Rajya Sabha Rebels

Sukhu's narrative was laced with accusations of financial misconduct against the dissenting MLAs, suggesting they had procured large briefcases in Chandigarh for the purpose of carrying money. He specifically highlighted that the alleged ringleader among them had acquired two such briefcases. The Chief Minister vowed that any recovered money would be redistributed among the populace.

The backdrop to these allegations is the recent Rajya Sabha elections, where these six MLAs reportedly voted against their party lines, aiding a BJP candidate's victory. This act of cross-voting has been interpreted by Sukhu as a betrayal not only to the party but to the electorate's trust, emphasizing that such actions are unforgivable.

Amidst these political skirmishes, Sukhu criticized the BJP for its alleged lack of support during a recent rain disaster in the state. He accused the party of attempting to halt a state government scheme designed to provide financial assistance to women. Despite these challenges, Sukhu assured that his government would ensure the distribution of Rs 1,500 per month to all eligible women from March to June, post-elections.

Expressing confidence in his party's prospects, Sukhu anticipated a sweeping victory for Congress in both the upcoming Lok Sabha seats and bypolls for six assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh. His statements reflect a broader strategy to rally support among voters by highlighting his administration's commitment to welfare schemes and by critiquing the opposition's actions.

The political landscape in Himachal Pradesh is evidently charged with accusations and counter-accusations as parties gear up for forthcoming electoral contests. With promises of financial redistribution and welfare schemes on one side and allegations of betrayal and misconduct on the other, voters are presented with stark choices for their political representation.
