Earlier, several people lost their lives due to heavy rainfall and landslides in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Over 400 more roads were blocked and several houses were damaged.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) later issued a red and orange alert in both states. Meanwhile, warnings were issued in districts like Shimla, Sirmaur, Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Hamirpur, Solan, Bilaspur and Kullu.

All schools and colleges were declared holidays on Wednesday and Thursday due to incessant rainfall in Shimla, Mandi, and Solan districts.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded in the Kullu district on Wednesday. People could not even opt for an alternative route via Pandoh as it was also damaged.

More than 700 roads in the state are now closed. People are being evacuated from the buildings after cracks were developed in these buildings.

120 people lost their lives due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh this month, while a total of 238 people were found dead, and 40 are still missing since the onset of the monsoon in the state on June 24.

The District Disaster Management Centre has announced toll-free number 1077 in case of an emergency.
