Himachal Congress Leader Calls For Turkiye Boycott
After India's forensic experts found that downed drones from Pakistan were Turkish-made, Himachal Pradesh Congress leader has asked for a complete boycott of Turkiye. Kuldeep Singh Rathore, a spokesperson for the Himachal Pradesh All India Congress Committee, has urged India to halt imports from Turkey and discourage tourism there.
Rathore highlighted India's efforts during Turkey's 2023 earthquake through 'Operation Dost'. He stated, "When Turkey was hit by a devastating earthquake in 2023, India started 'Operation Dost' and provided all possible assistance, including aid, the National Disaster Response Force and sent drones to rescue the people trapped under the rubble. We even modified Kisan drones to carry medicine and food."

Call for Economic Measures
Rathore expressed disappointment over Turkey's actions. He said that despite India's help during the earthquake, Turkish-made drones were used against India by Pakistan. He declared, "Nation comes first and therefore I demand that India should immediately ban import of Apple and other goods from Turkey." He also suggested Indians avoid visiting Turkey as tourists.
The sentiment is echoed by Harish Chauhan, president of the Fruit Vegetable Flower Growers Association. Chauhan stated, "Turkey is supporting Pakistan against India, and we urge the Indian government to completely and permanently ban all imports and exports from Turkey, which is a leading exporter of apples to India."
Impact on Trade Relations
The call for a ban on Turkish imports could significantly impact trade relations between the two countries. Turkey is a major supplier of apples to India. A complete halt in trade could affect both economies. However, proponents argue it's necessary given the current geopolitical tensions.
