High Alert Along J&K Border After Drone Sightings Near LoC and IB

Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have been placed on high alert after repeated drone activity was detected near the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border in multiple districts, raising fresh concerns over cross-border infiltration attempts from Pakistan.

The latest incident was reported from the Ramgarh sector in Samba district, where a drone was seen entering Indian territory from the Pakistani side. Officials said such sightings have become frequent over the past several days, particularly during night hours. In response, Army units deployed along the border have intensified surveillance and opened fire on suspected drones to prevent any possible intrusion.

According to security sources, the pattern of drone movements suggests a deliberate and coordinated effort rather than isolated incidents. The repeated sightings have prompted authorities to issue a high alert across vulnerable border areas, with additional troops and monitoring equipment deployed to counter potential threats. Officials believe the drones could be used to drop weapons, ammunition or other contraband in border villages, a tactic previously used by Pakistan-based handlers to support militant networks.

Earlier, similar drone activity was observed in Rajouri district near the LoC. Army personnel guarding the Nowshera sector spotted a drone hovering over the Ganiya-Kalsian area, triggering an immediate security response. In another incident, residents of Khabbar village in the Teryath area of Rajouri reported seeing a drone flying at low altitude during the night.

Drone sightings have also been reported from Chak Babrala village in the Ramgarh sector of Samba, where a drone-like object was seen hovering briefly before disappearing. In Poonch district, a drone was detected near the LoC in the Mankote sector, particularly in the Tain-Toba area, adding to the growing list of incidents.

Security agencies suspect these drone incursions point to a larger conspiracy aimed at destabilising the region. Describing the attempts as acts of desperation, officials said Pakistan continues to rely on drone-based methods after repeated failures of traditional infiltration routes. Counter-drone operations remain ongoing as forces work to neutralise any emerging threats and safeguard border security.
