Jaipur, July 3: A four-year-old child died and five others including actress-turned-BJP MP Hema Malini were injured in a fatal accident in Rajasthan. A day after the accident, driver of the MP has been arrested on Friday, July 3.

All injured were rushed to Fortis Hospital, later two among them were referred to SMS (Sawai Man Singh) hospital. Hema Malini, who was sitting in the back seat of the car, sustained injuries on her forehead, cheek, and legs. Conditions of other victims were serious.

What exactly happened in Rajasthan on Thursday night?

The fatal accident took place when the Hema Malini's Mercedes collided with an Alto car. The mishap occurred at Lal Chowk bypass near Dausa, 60 km from Jaipur.

Both Alto and the Mercedes were smashed. According to an eyewitness, the collision occurred when the Alto car was entering the bypass road from a side road on the highway.

The actress, an MP from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, was returning to Jaipur after a visit to the Mehendipur Balaji temple in Karauli district.

Hema Malini's driver has been arrested by Rajasthan Police and he has been booked under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and section 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).

A doctor, who drove Hema Malini to the hospital, was quoted as saying, "Hema ji has injuries above her eyes, in her back and legs. I drove her to hospital in my car. She was in pain. Hema ji herself stepped in the car after the accident. She also walked inside the hospital by herself."
