Heavy Rains to Lash Karnataka Today, Red Alert Issued for Coastal Region
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains to lash Karnataka till July 10, while it has also issued a red alert for the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi.
The eagerly awaited monsoon showers have finally arrived in the state, bringing relief to the farming community. Thunderstorms with strong winds are expected in Uttara Kannada district.

The red alert means that these districts are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall, and people in these areas should take precautions. The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms and heavy winds in Uttara Kannada district.
Other districts that are likely to receive heavy rains include Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburgi, Raichur, Chikkamagalur, Davanagere, Kodagu, Shivamogga, and Vijayanagar. Mysuru, Ramnagar, and Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, and Kolar are also expected to see some rain.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed officials to bring in immediate relief measures in the coastal districts and prevent any mishaps. Ministers have also scheduled visits to the accident-prone areas in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi districts today.
