Heavy rain very likely in South Interior Karnataka today

Heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Puducherry and Kerala on Friday, according to Indian Meteorological department.

Also, as per the local weather reports, widespread light, moderate, isolated heavy rains are expected in interior Karnataka (North and South) on Friday. Rains in Bengaluru may not be widespread and as heavy as yesterday but isolated heavy showers cannot be ruled out.

Owing to waning influence of cyclonic circulation at lakshadweep as it marches westwards, rains are expected to pick up in Bengaluru in coming days starting today. Also, thundershowers are expected across south-interior Karnataka, ghats, coastal regions and north Karnataka may receive scattered rains.

On polling day, rains expected around noon in ghat regions, adjoining districts Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Coorg, Dakshina Kannada and Belagavi district.

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), around 12.81 mm of rain was recorded up to 8.30 pm across Bengaluru on Thursday evening. The Meteorological Department , rain and thundershowers are likely to occur in the evening till May 14. Several parts of the city witnessed heavy rainfall Thursday evening with the rain continuing till late night in several areas in east, central and western Bengaluru.
