Heatwave alert: Metmen forecast rise in temp in these States
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday has predicted severe heat wave conditions likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Bihar during next 4-5 days.
According to the weather agency, heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Gangetic West Bengal during 14th-18th; over north coastal Andhra Pradesh during 14th-16th April, Odisha during 14th-15th April and over Bihar during 15th-18th April.

At present, the maximum temperatures is hovering in the range of 40-42°C over many parts of central & east India; some parts of Peninsular and Northwest India. These are above normal by 3-5°C over many parts of Gangetic West Bengal, some parts of Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Kerala & Mahe, Jammu division, Punjab and North India.
Maximum Temperatures are very likely to be above normal by 3-5°C over some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Kerala & Mahe, Jammu division, Punjab and North India during next 4-5 days. These are likely to be above normal by 1-3°C over most parts of the rest parts of the country.
However, Northwest and western India will receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning.
''Light/moderate scattered rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Western Himalayan Region from night of 15th to 17th April with isolated heavy rainfall likely over the region on 18th April. Hailstorm likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir on 17th and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 18th April,'' the department said in its daily weather bulletin.
The weather agency also said that a fresh spell of rainfall likely over Western Himalayan Region & adjoining plains from 16th April.
