Health Minister Nadda seeks public support for checking mosquitoes

New Delhi, Sep 14: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Wednesday said that there was no need to panic over the surging cases of chikungunya and dengue, and sought the people's support in stopping the breeding of mosquitoes.

"There is no need to panic," Nadda said at a press conference here.

"Everywhere, and specially in Delhi, we need people to cooperate. Breeding of mosquitoes should be stopped," Nadda said.

"Every family must pitch in as the breeding centres are at homes. We need to check that there is no water logging," he said.

He stressed on hygiene and sanitation. Nadda said he had spoken to Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Wednesday.

The Union Minister said that the Delhi government had assured him that they had all required resources.

"I talked to Satyendra Jain as well... He said they have all resources and are working according to the guidelines of central government," said Nadda.

Jain assured Nadda that Delhi had all required medicines, beds in hospitals as well as testing facilities.

Nine deaths due to vector borne diseases -- including five from chikungunya and four from dengue -- were reported in the national capital till Tuesday.
