‘He Just Wanted to ....’: Garima Garg on Why Sandipan Accompanied Zubeen to Singapore

In the aftermath of Zubeen Garg's tragic death in Singapore, his cousin Sandipan Garg has been arrested by the Assam CID's special investigation team. Sandipan, who serves as an Assam Police Service officer in Kamrup district, was a close relative of the late singer. This arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into Zubeen's untimely demise.

Garima Garg, Zubeen's wife, shared insights into why Sandipan accompanied her husband to Singapore. She explained that Sandipan had expressed a desire to travel abroad with Zubeen since he had never been overseas before. "When Sandipan wished to go with Zubeen...he never went abroad. So this time he said he wanted to go with Zubeen, and he was happy to take him along," she stated.

Sandipan's Arrest and Suspension

Following his arrest, Sandipan Garg was immediately suspended from his duties by the Assam government. He has been placed in police custody for seven days. MP Gupta, special DGP (CID) Assam Police and head of the 10-member SIT, confirmed the arrest but refrained from disclosing further details due to the ongoing investigation.

Garima also mentioned that she was aware of Sandipan's summons and subsequent arrest but chose not to comment extensively on it. "May be they have got some clue in his statements. The investigation process is on and it is taking its own course, I can't comment anything on it," she added.

Zubeen and Sandipan's Relationship

The bond between Zubeen and Sandipan was strong, as Garima described how proud Zubeen always was of his cousin. Before joining the police force, Sandipan had dabbled in modelling and acting. Garima noted that Zubeen often encouraged new talents and took pride in Sandipan's achievements.

"He did modelling projects with us 3-4 times, he was good in that... Zubeen was always encouraging to new talents and since Sandipan was his first cousin, Zubeen always used to love him and when he got into APS, Zubeen was always proud of him," Garima said.

Zubeen Garg passed away at 52 after a swimming accident on September 19 in Singapore. At the time of the incident, Sandipan was present with him. This unfortunate event has led to increased scrutiny and investigation into the circumstances surrounding Zubeen's death.

As investigations continue, more details are expected to emerge regarding this case. The family and fans of Zubeen Garg await answers as authorities work diligently to uncover the truth behind this tragic loss.
