Hathras College Professor Suspended Amid Sexual Exploitation Charges By Female Students, Probe Launched
A chief proctor at a college in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has been accused of sexually exploiting several female students. The accused, identified as Rajneesh Kumar, is the head of the Geography Department at PC Bagla College.
Following the allegations, authorities suspended Rajneesh Kumar. The principal of Bagla Degree College, Dr Mahavir Singh, confirmed the suspension after the incident was reported. District officials have also taken cognisance of the matter.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have registered a case against him under multiple sections, including rape. The case came to light after several female students sent anonymous complaints to the local police and the National Commission for Women (NCW).
In their complaint, the students accused Rajneesh Kumar of sexual exploitation, also providing photographs allegedly showing him in compromising positions with some students.
A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) conducted a preliminary investigation, verifying the allegations by speaking with the students visible in the photographs.
The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) further examined the case and confirmed the authenticity of the accusations. Based on the investigation report, the police registered an FIR and initiated legal proceedings against Rajneesh Kumar.
Meanwhile, the district magistrate has formed a four-member committee to investigate the case, comprising the sub-divisional magistrate, deputy superintendent of police, tehsildar, and the district education officer. The committee has been given seven days to complete its inquiry.
Videos of the proctor allegedly assaulting students are now circulating widely on social media, sparking public outrage. Reports suggest he had been sexually assaulting female students for the past 20 years.
It has been claimed that an FIR was previously lodged against him but he was acquitted. Allegedly, he used to summon female students to his office or residence, enticing them with promises of high grades or job opportunities. He reportedly recorded videos and used them to blackmail the students into silence.
The circulation of videos and photographs on social media has intensified calls for strict action against him.
One user on X wrote, "If these allegations are true, it is utterly shameful and reprehensible. Such incidents went on for 20 years while the authorities remained silent-this reflects a complete failure of the system. Strict action must be taken against the culprits to ensure the safety of our daughters."
Another user stated, "A person with such a vile and cruel mentality has no right to remain a teacher. The department and administration must inform the public of what action has been taken so far, as such acts not only damage the school but also society. We must ensure that our younger generation does not develop a negative perception of education."
