The Ministry for External Affairs (MEA) had sought a report on the incident from the Gurgaon police on the incident.
However, a formal investigation had not commenced in the wake of the police awaiting a nod from the MEA.
The diplomat, who was housed in an apartment at Gurgaon, had moved to the Embassy. The police cannot arrest or question a diplomat at the embassy as per protocol.

The police had registered an FIR in this case. The Saudi embassy had, however, denied any wrong doing by their diplomat and backed him.
The police on the other hand said that the case was stuck in protocol and hence could not probe the matter further.
The police had, however, submitted a report with two medical tests done on the victims suggesting they were sexually assaulted.
