Has Rahul Gandhi Shot Himself In The Foot With His Dalit Remark?
Rahul Gandhi is once again in the news following his Dalit comment. The Congress leader is in the United States and addressed the Indian diaspora in California on Wednesday.
During his speech, he claimed that the condition of the Muslims in India is the same as that of the Dalits in the 1980s.

The way you (Muslims) are feeling attacked, I can guarantee Sikhs, Christians, Dalits, tribals are feeling the same. What is happening to Muslims in India today, happened to Dalits in the 1980s," Rahul Gandhi said. He was answering a query by a member of the Bay Area Muslim community, Mohammad Khan.
Incidentally in the 1980s Rahul Gandhi's grandmother and father, Indira and Rajiv Gandhi were at the helm of affairs. This is the same period referred to during his speech.
Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at the BJP led Union Government. He alleged that the the government was using the country's agencies to threaten people. He also accused the BJP of using the Sengol to distract people from real issues such as unemployment and inflation.
Rahul Gandhi arrived in San Francisco on a three-day visit. He has been interacting with the Indian diaspora and American lawmakers since his arrival.
