Haryana Woman Who Died in 2022 Appears on Voter List with Brazilian Woman’s Photo

In a bizarre twist, the family of Guniya, who passed away in March 2022, found out that her name still appeared on the voter roll - shockingly accompanied by a photo of a foreign woman. To confirm her passing, the family shared Guniya's death certificate with India Today TV.

The controversy surfaced amid Rahul Gandhi's allegations of large-scale voter fraud in Haryana's 2024 Assembly elections. Gandhi claimed that a Brazilian model's image had been used multiple times under different names such as Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati. He accused the BJP and the Election Commission of manipulating the voter database to alter electoral outcomes.

Brazilian Model Reacts to Photo Misuse

The woman whose photo sparked the uproar has been identified as Larissa, a Brazilian model. Expressing disbelief, she said she was shocked to learn that her old modelling photograph was used without consent in Indian voter records.

"I have absolutely nothing to do with politics in India. My photo was purchased from a stock image platform and used without my involvement. It's not me - I've never even been to India," Larissa clarified in a video message.

She further mentioned receiving a flood of messages from Indian Instagram users after the news went viral, many of whom humorously congratulated her as if she had "won an election."

Family Questions Voter List Error

Meanwhile, Guniya's mother-in-law expressed confusion over the mix-up. She confirmed that Guniya had voted before her death, but had no idea how a foreign woman's image came to be linked with her name on the updated voter list.

The revelation has sparked questions about the accuracy and integrity of India's voter database, especially when combined with the scale of Gandhi's allegations.

Gandhi Alleges 'Systemic Manipulation'

In his press conference, Rahul Gandhi claimed that 25 lakh fake voter entries were present in Haryana's rolls - representing around 12% of the total electorate.

"Haryana has two crore voters, and 25 lakh of them are fake," Gandhi said, describing the situation as a case of "systemic manipulation" aimed at turning Congress victories into defeats. He demanded answers from both the BJP and the Election Commission of India regarding these discrepancies.
