Haryana Violence: Petrol Pumps Prohibited to Sell Loose Petrol

Amid the ongoing violence in Haryana's Nuh district, the District Magistrate of Gurugram issued an order prohibiting selling loose petrol/diesel to any person (except for emergency purposes) with immediate effect.

Gurugram district magistrate Nishant Yadav said that the communal tensions in the Nuh district of Haryana and bordering areas in Gurugram posed a potential threat to law and order in the region. And in order to ensure safety and security this order shall be effective within the territorial jurisdiction of Gurugram district and shall remain in force until further notice.

Any person disobeying this order shall be liable for legal action under Section 188 of the IPC 1860 (45 of 1860).

Meanwhile, all government and private schools in the Sohna subdivision of Gurugram will remain closed on August 2 to avoid any untoward incident and ensure the safety of students in the wake of the communal violence.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh Police issued a high alert in 11 districts of western UP. 4000 cops have also been deployed in Faridabad to control the situation.

The alert was mainly issued for Mathura as Kosi Kalan and Barsana towns in this district share the border with Nuh. Other districts where the alert was issued included Agra, Firozabad, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Hapur, Aligarh, Shamli, and Gautam Buddh Nagar, said a senior police officer.

Five people have been killed and several were injured in the violence that erupted on Monday after an attack on a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession in the adjoining Nuh district. 200 men on motorbikes and SUVs targeted and vandalised 14 shops in the main market, primarily those selling biryani and other food items. In addition to that seven stores were set on fire in Sector 66.
