Haryana Violence: Internet Services Suspended Till August 5

Mobile internet services will remain suspended in Nuh, Faridabad, and Palwal districts till August 5 as the conditions in these districts remain critical and same due to the communal unrest that erupted in Haryana's Nuh district.

State home minister Anil Vij said that social media played a significant role in fuelling the violence in Nuh and informed that the state government has formed a three-member committee which has been tasked with monitoring social media activities from July 21 onwards.

Earlier the internet services were suspended till August 2, however, looking at the current situation, the state government has taken a precautionary step to control the situation.

The communal clashes that took place in Nuh district killed 6 people including two home guards and injured several people. Shops have been vandalised.

Schools and colleges in the area have been closed. Malls have been shut down. The sale of loose petrol or diesel from the petrol pump has been banned except for emergencies.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday sought four more companies of central forces and said one battalion of the Indian Reserve Battalion will also be deployed in violence-hit Nuh. This in addition to 20 companies of central forces that are already deployed across the state - 14 in Nuh, three in Palwal, two in Gurugram, and one in Faridabad, he added.

Addressing a press conference, CM Khattar also said a total of 116 people have been arrested and 90 detained since Monday's clashes in Nuh.
