Haryana Transforms Job Market: Decade Of Merit-Based Government Recruitment

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has governed Haryana for the past decade, bringing major changes to the state.

One notable transformation is in the realm of government jobs. Previously, securing a government job in Haryana often required "karchi" or "perchi" (recommendation letters or bribes). This practice made it difficult for many to obtain jobs without connections or financial means.

Since BJP took office in October 2014, they have worked to eliminate this corrupt system. The government aimed to make the recruitment process transparent and merit-based.

This shift has restored public trust, as jobs are now awarded based on qualifications rather than recommendations or bribes.

Over the past ten years, more than 1.32 lakh government jobs have been filled on merit. Additionally, over 50,000 positions are currently being processed. This marks a significant increase compared to the previous decade when only around 85,000 government positions were filled.

BJP's efforts have more than doubled the number of government jobs awarded based on merit.

Last month, the state government issued appointment letters to 7,441 newly appointed TGT teachers. Their selection was purely merit-based. In 2024 alone, results for over 33,000 positions were declared without any "karchi" or "perchi." This ongoing commitment to merit-based recruitment continues to benefit the state's youth.

Even the poorest families in Haryana are now able to secure government jobs. In the past, bribes were often necessary to obtain these positions.

Today, jobs are awarded to individuals from all socioeconomic backgrounds. This change has ended the era of brokers who previously controlled job opportunities.

Young people now have access to Group C and D jobs without needing recommendations or bribes. The public acknowledges that those who worked hard and were qualified are being rewarded with government jobs. The politics of brokerage has come to an end.

Impact on Society

The shift towards merit-based recruitment has led to inspiring stories of success. For instance, there are now reports of rickshaw pullers' sons becoming officers.

In the past, jobs were often distributed among MLAs' families. Today, with jobs being given based on merit, the youth's confidence has grown significantly.

This change has curbed corruption, nepotism, and regionalism in Haryana's job market. Young people no longer need recommendations to secure employment.

The transformation in Haryana's recruitment process is evident in various sectors. The BJP's efforts have ensured that qualified individuals receive opportunities based on their abilities rather than their connections or financial status.

This decade-long journey towards transparency and merit-based recruitment has brought about a positive change in Haryana's job market.

The state's youth now have better access to government jobs, fostering a sense of fairness and equality.
