Haryana Announces 100 New Gymnasiums To Promote Yoga Statewide
Haryana Chief Minister unveils plans for 100 new gymnasiums to make yoga accessible statewide, enhancing health and wellness.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal announced that 100 more gymnasiums will open in the state within 60 days. This will allow more people to practice yoga regularly. He made this announcement during the 10th International Yoga Day event in Hisar, organised by the Haryana Yoga Commission and AYUSH Department.

The Chief Minister said that 1121 places have been identified for gymnasiums, and yoga is already being practised in 714 of these. The goal is to make yoga accessible to every household in Haryana. Yoga is not just a part of life but a way of living.
In 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi got a resolution passed at the United Nations General Assembly to recognise yoga internationally. This resolution was supported by 177 countries. Today, 217 countries celebrate 21st June as Yoga Day. People practised yoga in parks, auditoriums, homes, neighbourhoods, and panchayats.
The government has appointed 877 AYUSH Yoga Assistants to connect people with yoga and improve their health. These assistants will teach yoga daily and inform patients at AYUSH dispensaries about its benefits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when there were no medicines or vaccines, many people turned to yoga to stay healthy.
Yoga helps relieve stress and generates energy in the body. A healthy body supports a fast pace of development in life. The Chief Minister urged people to make yoga a part of their daily routine to stay healthy. He also announced that yoga will be included in the school curriculum, with students practising it for five minutes before daily prayers.
Yoga is an ancient Indian tradition. Baba Ramdev has made people worldwide aware of yoga. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision has also played a key role in spreading yoga globally. The Chief Minister congratulated the people on International Yoga Day and mentioned this year's theme: "Yoga for oneself and Yoga for society."
Haryana Health Minister Dr Kamal Gupta said that states like Goa, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan are interested in learning about Haryana's process of opening yoga centres and gymnasiums. The importance of yoga is also mentioned in the Gita. It is essential to do yoga to stay healthy.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Manohar Lal released the booklet "Yoga Protocol" by the Haryana Yoga Commission. He also inaugurated two gymnasiums and laid the foundation stones for two more in Hisar district. Additionally, he announced a Rs 2 lakh award for school children who gave a presentation on yoga during the event.
The Chief Minister honoured several social organisations related to yoga. He also practised yoga with the attendees and listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message from Srinagar on International Yoga Day.
