Haryana to get two new universities

The Haryana cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today approved the ordinance in this regard. Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, named after former Haryana Chief Minister, late Bansi Lal, would be set up at Bhiwani and would lay special emphasis on sports.
Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, named after Hooda's father and veteran freedom fighter, late Ranbir Singh, would be set up at Jind, an official release said here. The cabinet also approved the change of name of National Law University, Haryana to Dr B R Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat.
The University will be state-funded and will be developed as a Centre of Excellence with objectives to organise advanced studies and research in all branches of law, the cabinet was informed.
The University is expected to act as a catalyst in accelerating the growth of Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonipat, an official release said.
