Haryana To Boost Public Transport with 1,168 New Buses
Haryana government announces the addition of 1,168 buses, including luxury and HVAC models, to enhance public transport services.
The Haryana government is set to enhance its roadways fleet with 1,168 new buses, including models from Volvo, Mercedes, and HVAC. The tender process for acquiring 650 buses has been finalised, comprising 500 non-AC standard buses and 150 AC buses.
In the initial phase, the government will procure 650 new buses. This batch includes 500 non-AC standard buses and 150 HVAC buses. Following this, the department will initiate the purchase of an additional 518 buses, which will include 500 HVAC buses and 18 luxury models.

Currently, the Haryana Transport Department's fleet includes six Volvo buses, 12 Mercedes buses, 153 HVAC buses, three CNG buses, 10 semi-low floor buses, 278 mini buses, and 3,203 plain buses. This expansion aims to improve public transport services across the state.
On the directive of Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma, a campaign has been launched to upgrade the toilets at all bus stands and depots in the state. Initially, the focus will be on improving facilities at the main bus stands in Hisar's six districts.
Departmental teams will conduct inspections to identify deficiencies in the existing toilet facilities. The responsibility for cleaning these toilets may be outsourced to private companies as part of a new plan being developed by the transport department.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance passenger comfort and hygiene standards at bus stands and depots. By addressing these infrastructure issues, the Haryana Transport Department aims to provide better services to commuters.
The procurement of new buses and the improvement of infrastructure are expected to significantly boost the efficiency and reliability of public transport in Haryana. These steps reflect the government's commitment to modernising its transport services for the benefit of its residents.
