Haryana: Nuh Hotel From Where Rioters Threw Stones Razed

On the fourth day of the demolition drive in violence-hit Nuh, a hotel-cum-restaurant has been razed by the district administration on Sunday.

It was built illegally and hooligans had pelted stones from here during the recent violence, the local administration said. The district town planner Vinesh Kumar says, "The building was totally unauthorised and it was served notices by the government and department. Today, this action is being taken. This is a hotel-cum-restaurant and is completely unauthorised. Hooligans had pelted stones on the yatra from here. So, this action is being taken."

On Saturday, the authorities had demolished over 10 shops including medical stores as they claim that some of those buildings were owned by rioters.

The authorities bulldozed illegal constructions on 2.6 acres of land around Nalhar Medical College in the state. Around 15 other temporary structures were also demolished as part of the drive, police said, PTI reported.

"These were illegal constructions. Notices were already given to owners of the demolished structures. The owners of some illegal structures were also involved in the violence during the Braj Mandal religious yatra. The demolition drive will continue," Sub Divisional Magistrate Ashwani Kumar said.

The drive was started on Thursday when the authorities razed 250 shanties of illegal immigrants. Reportedly, illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, who had previously resided in Assam, were found to have established makeshift settlements on Haryana Urban Authority land in ward number one along Mohammadpur road in Tauru town, Nuh district. They were reportedly living here for four years.

Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, died in clashes that erupted in Muslim-dominated Nuh when a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession or the Braj Mandal Yatra was attacked by mobs on Monday. Gurugram had also witnessed stray incidents of clashes.

Meanwhile, the suspension of mobile internet services, bulk SMS and all dongle services provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in the jurisdiction of district Nuh have been extended up to August 8.
