Haryana Trio Joins Modi Cabinet Before State Assembly Elections
Haryana, a key state in India's political landscape, witnessed a significant development on Sunday as three of its leaders were inducted into Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet. This move comes ahead of the assembly polls scheduled for October this year, highlighting the region's importance in the national political arena. Among the new entrants is BJP stalwart Manohar Lal Khattar, marking his transition to national politics after serving as the Chief Minister of Haryana.

The BJP, which secured five Lok Sabha seats in the recent elections, has chosen three of its winning candidates for cabinet positions. Alongside Khattar, Rao Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar, both seasoned politicians with previous ministerial experience under Modi's leadership, have been appointed. This decision underscores the party's strategic emphasis on Haryana, where it aims to consolidate its influence.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had a sweeping victory in Haryana, winning all 10 seats. However, the Congress party made significant inroads in the latest polls by winning five seats. The political dynamics in Haryana are thus a focal point as the assembly elections approach.
Manohar Lal Khattar's political journey is noteworthy. From his early days as an RSS worker to being handpicked as Haryana's Chief Minister in 2014, and now stepping into a parliamentary role, Khattar has experienced a full spectrum of political roles. His recent victory in the Lok Sabha polls from Karnal by a substantial margin highlights his popularity and the trust placed in him by voters and the party leadership alike.
Rao Inderjit Singh, representing Gurgaon, is another significant figure making his way into the cabinet. A prominent leader from southern Haryana and a representative of the Ahir community, Singh has secured his position as an MP for the sixth term. His consistent victories reflect his strong base of support and his reputation as a dedicated public servant.
Krishan Pal Gurjar from Faridabad has also been re-elected, continuing his service in national politics. Gurjar's contributions to expanding the BJP's footprint in Haryana during his tenure as state party chief and his legislative experience make him a valuable addition to Modi's team.
The induction of these leaders from Haryana into the Union Cabinet not only signifies their individual achievements and contributions but also highlights the strategic importance of Haryana in national politics. As assembly polls loom closer, their roles will be closely watched for their impact on both state and national levels.
