Haryana lawmakers to donate salary for Kashmir relief

Haryana MLAs to contribute for Jammu
Chandigarh, Nov 4: The newly elected members of the Haryana assembly on Tuesday unanimously decided to donate a month's salary for the Jammu and Kashmir Relief Fund.

On the second day of the first sitting of the assembly, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said all the legislators will donate their first salary towards Jammu and Kashmir Relief Fund after keeping Re 1 with themselves.

Former chief minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the previous Haryana government had also contributed funds and relief supplies to the flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.

During the floods, many state legislators had contributed to PM's relief fund.

Earlier in September, the floods caused havoc across the state, affecting over 15,00,000 families in 5,794 villages.

As per the initial assessment received, around 3,44,607 structures have been damaged, 90,000 cattle perished, crop loss reported in 6.52 lakh hectares of land besides huge losses to the public and private infrastructure.
