Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir Assembly Election Results: Congress Alleges ECI Data Manipulation

The Congress party has raised concerns regarding the delay in updating counting data on the Election Commission's website. This issue arose after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) overtook Congress in early trends for the Haryana Assembly election results on Tuesday.

According to the latest updates from the Election Commission, the BJP has surpassed the halfway mark of 45 seats in Haryana. They are currently leading with 48 seats, while Congress is ahead in 33 constituencies.

Congress Questions Data Accuracy

Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary and communications head, expressed his concerns on Twitter. He stated, "Like the Lok Sabha elections, in Haryana we are again witnessing slowing down of uploading up-to-date trends on the ECI website. Is the BJP trying to build pressure on administration by sharing outdated and misleading trends."

Pawan Khera, another Congress leader, also pointed out discrepancies between counted rounds and those displayed on television via Election Commission data. He noted that while 11 rounds had been counted, only data from the fourth or fifth round was visible.

Allegations of Data Manipulation

Khera further highlighted inconsistencies in data reporting between different regions. "The Election Commission data is lagging behind," he said. "In J&K you are getting live data with every round counted but in Haryana, it is not so," news agency ANI quoted Khera as saying.

The Congress party's allegations suggest a deliberate delay in displaying accurate election results. They argue this may be an attempt to influence local administration during the counting process.

The situation has sparked a debate about transparency and fairness in election result reporting. The Congress party continues to demand timely and accurate updates from the Election Commission to ensure public trust in electoral processes.
