Haryana Government to Recognise Contributions in Combating Drug Abuse and Trafficking

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Wednesday that the government will recognise Panchayats and police personnel who effectively combat drug issues. Those who act swiftly against drug peddling will be honoured. However, officers failing to address drug problems in their areas will face consequences. The government is determined to eliminate drugs from Haryana.

Haryana to Honour Anti-Drug Efforts

The Chief Minister emphasised that any negligence in handling drug-related cases will not be tolerated. He was speaking at an event in Panchkula focused on combating drug abuse. Saini highlighted that drug abuse has become a global challenge, with terrorist groups and syndicates involved in trafficking, posing a national security threat.

Government Initiatives Against Drug Trafficking

A special task force has been established by the government to target drug traffickers. This task force is actively working to eradicate drugs from the state. Additionally, an inter-state secretariat has been set up in Panchkula to address the drug menace collaboratively.

This secretariat includes representatives from seven northern states: Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan. They coordinate efforts and share information to prevent drug abuse effectively, according to an official statement.

Saini reiterated the government's commitment to making Haryana a drug-free state. He stressed that negligence at any level in dealing with drug issues would not be accepted. The involvement of terrorist groups in drug trafficking has led to concerns about narco-terrorism, which is now a national security issue for many countries.

The Chief Minister's remarks underscore the seriousness with which the Haryana government is addressing the problem of drugs. By recognising those who contribute positively and holding accountable those who do not, the government aims to strengthen its fight against this pressing issue.
