Haryana to give free bicycles to SC students

Chandigarh, June 26: Haryana has sanctioned Rs.7 crore for this fiscal to provide free bicycles to the Scheduled Castes (SC) students studying in government schools, an official statement said on Friday.

The students of Class 9 and Class 11 will get the bicycles free of cost.

Only those Scheduled Castes students would benefit under the scheme who have to commute to the next village to attend a high school or a senior secondary school, the statement said.

It said that to avail of benefits under the scheme, the student should be a resident of the state.
