Haryana Elections: Jat Leader O P Dhankar To Lead BJP Manifesto Panel; AAP Seeks People's Response For CM Face

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Om Prakash Dhankar, former Haryana BJP chief, to lead the committee drafting the party's election manifesto for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections on October 1. Dhankar will head a 14-member team tasked with incorporating perspectives from all societal segments. This manifesto is pivotal for BJP's aim of securing a third consecutive term in Haryana.

To gather public input for the manifesto, the BJP plans to deploy 'Sankalp Yatra Rath' vans across various constituencies. These vans will be launched simultaneously in all 22 districts and will feature suggestion boxes for voters to drop their ideas. The party aims to complete this feedback collection within a week. According to BJP president Badoli, the manifesto panel was formed to ensure it reflects views from every community.

Public Feedback Initiatives

In response, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to seek public opinion on their chief ministerial candidate for the Haryana assembly elections, mirroring their strategy in Punjab. The AAP will soon announce its list of candidates and is contesting all 90 seats independently. The party claims that Haryana residents view it as a credible alternative to the ruling BJP and has criticized BJP's handling of issues like unemployment, law and order, and drug abuse.

The polling for Haryana's 90 assembly seats is scheduled for October 1, with results expected on October 4 after vote counting. This election is pivotal as both parties aim to address key state issues and gain voter support.

JJP's Internal Turmoil

The kingmaker of 2019 Haryana assembly election, the Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) saw a sharp turn in its fate recently after its four MLAs resigned soon after announcement for elections in state.

The latest turmoil began with the resignation of Anoop Dhanak, an MLA from Uklana in Hisar district, which surprised many as he was among Chautala's most trusted aides. After this, the party received resignation letters from MLAs Ishwar Singh (who represents Guhla in Kaithal district), Ram Karan Kala (Shahabad in Kurukshetra district) and Devender Babli (Tohana in Fatehabad district).

While none of the resigned MLAs officially joined any other party, sources said that Singh, Kala and Babli were already warming up to the Congress, while Dhanak may join the BJP camp.

Reacting to these developments, JJP leader Randhir Singh told the media that the party was not perturbed by these resignations and that it would come back strongly after the elections.
