Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini Challenges Opposition on MSP Claims and Crop Procurement

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini asserts that the state's procurement of 24 crops at Minimum Support Price is a national record, countering opposition claims. He emphasises the importance of data-driven discussions and criticises the opposition for diverting attention from real issues.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has issued a challenge to the opposition regarding the procurement of crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). He claims that purchasing 24 crops in Haryana is a national record and not just a slogan. This statement was directed at Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who questioned the BJP's claim, alleging Haryana doesn't grow that many crops.

Saini emphasised that if a data-driven discussion were held, the truth about MSP procurement would become evident. He accused the opposition of wanting farmers to remain in protest while asserting that his government is focused on ensuring farmers' prosperity and the state's progress. "Procurement of 24 crops at MSP is a national record... It's not a slogan but a reality," Saini stated during an event.

Political Allegations and Rebuttals

The chief minister criticised the opposition for resorting to allegations when they start losing public support. He claimed these tactics are used to divert attention from real issues. Saini also targeted the AAP government in Punjab, dismissing their Operation Lotus allegations against the BJP as baseless and indicative of political frustration.

Saini alleged widespread corruption under AAP's rule in Punjab and claimed that people there are seeking peace and development, which he believes only the BJP can provide. He suggested that just as Haryana is progressing, Punjab is also ready for change, especially with the 2027 Punjab Assembly polls approaching.

Economic Opportunities and Trade Deals

Discussing international trade, Saini highlighted the potential benefits of a proposed India-US trade deal for agrarian states like Haryana. This deal could open up American markets for basmati rice, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and processed foods. Similarly, trade with the European Union could enhance export opportunities in textiles, automobiles, and heavy engineering sectors.

Saini believes these trade agreements will bolster Haryana's economy by creating new export avenues. The chief minister sees these developments as crucial for strengthening the state's economic standing on both national and international levels.

Old-Age Pension Controversy

Addressing concerns about old-age pensions being cut in Haryana, Saini accused the opposition of spreading misinformation on this sensitive issue. Of the two lakh cases cited, over 1.03 lakh beneficiaries had died, around 37,000 had incorrect age records, and about 39,000 cases were pending verification. Document verification is ongoing to resolve these issues.

Saini's remarks aim to clarify misunderstandings and assure citizens that efforts are being made to address pension-related concerns accurately. He stressed that these verifications are necessary to ensure rightful beneficiaries receive their dues.

The chief minister's statements reflect his administration's focus on development and transparency while countering opposition claims. By addressing various issues from crop procurement to international trade and social welfare schemes, Saini aims to highlight his government's commitment to progress and accountability.
