Haryana Cabinet Renames Policy To Honour Martyrs' Families
The Haryana Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal, has approved a significant amendment to the Compassionate Appointment Policy.
This policy, initially named the Compassionate Appointment Policy (for family members of Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel Killed in Action) Policy, 2023, will now be known as 'Veer Shahid Samman Yojana'.

The renaming aims to enhance the policy's visibility and relatability among the public. This change is expected to improve communication and understanding of the policy's objectives, making it easier for the families of martyrs to access the benefits provided.
By aligning the policy's name with its noble intent, the government reaffirms its commitment to honouring the sacrifices made by armed forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel. The new name, 'Veer Shahid Samman Yojana', reflects this dedication more clearly.
The original Compassionate Appointment Policy was notified on August 14, 2023. It was designed to provide relief to families of Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel from Haryana who lost their lives in action.
This policy amendment underscores the government's ongoing efforts to support the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. The new title is intended to make the policy more memorable and relatable, ensuring that its purpose is easily understood by all.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal's administration continues to prioritise initiatives that honour and support military personnel and their families. The 'Veer Shahid Samman Yojana' is a testament to this commitment.
The renaming of the policy is not just a cosmetic change but a strategic move to ensure that the benefits reach those who need them most. It simplifies the process for families seeking assistance under this policy.
Overall, this amendment aims to provide better support and recognition for the sacrifices made by Haryana's brave soldiers and police personnel. The government hopes that this change will facilitate easier access to benefits for martyrs' families.
With this new title, 'Veer Shahid Samman Yojana', the Haryana government aims to create a lasting impact on public perception and understanding of this important policy.
