Haryana Assembly Election: Key Seats To Watch Out For As State Preps To Vote On Oct 5
After an intense campaign by political parties concluded on Thursday, Haryana's 90-seat constituencies will go to the polls in a single phase on October 5, with results expected on October 8.
While the main contenders are the ruling BJP and the Congress, AAP, JJP, and INLD also have a major stake in the elections.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the largest party, winning 40 of the 90 seats-falling six short of a simple majority.
The party then formed a post-poll alliance with the JJP and seven independent MLAs to form the government, reported the Mint.
Manohar Lal Khattar became the chief minister, and JJP leader Dushyant Chautala was sworn in as deputy chief minister. Khattar is now a Union Minister, and the JJP has since withdrawn from the alliance.
Here are some of the key constituencies to watch in Haryana:
Ladwa
In Kurukshetra district, Ladwa is significant as BJP leader and Haryana minister Nayab Singh Saini is contesting. He is up against Congress MLA Mewa Singh, while AAP has fielded Joga Singh. In the 2019 election, the Congress won the seat, with the BJP securing it in 2014 and INLD in 2009.
Garhi Sampla-Kiloi
This Rohtak constituency will see a high-profile contest between former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda from the Congress and BJP's Manju Hooda. AAP's Pravin Guskhani is also in the fray. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has held this seat since 2009, winning by over 58,000 votes in 2019.
Julana
In Jind district, Julana has garnered attention as Olympian wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat is the Congress candidate. She faces BJP's Captain Yogesh Bairagi and AAP's Kavita Dalal. JJP's Amarjeet Dhanda won the seat in 2019, while INLD held it in 2009 and 2014.
Gurgaon
The contest in Gurgaon is intriguing, with Congress candidate Mohit Grover, BJP's Mukesh Sharma, and AAP's Nishant Anand vying for the seat. BJP's Sudhir Singla won in 2019, and Umesh Aggarwal in 2014.
Uchana Kalan
In Jind district, Uchana Kalan is a crucial seat where former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala of the JJP is contesting. The Congress has fielded Brijendra Singh, while AAP's candidate is Pawan Fauji, and BJP's nominee is Devender Attri. Dushyant Chautala won the seat in 2019, with BJP's Prem Lata securing it in 2014.
Ellenabad
In Sirsa district, INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala is seeking re-election from Ellenabad, an INLD stronghold. BJP's Amir Chand Mehta and AAP's Manish Arora are contesting the seat. Abhay Chautala won the seat by around 12,000 votes in 2019.
Rewari
The Yadav-dominated Rewari seat, near Gurgaon, is witnessing a close contest. Congress has fielded Chirajeev Rao, son of former MLA Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, who held the seat five times between 1991 and 2009. BJP's Lakshman Singh Yadav and AAP's Satish Yadav are also in the race. BJP's Randhir Singh Kapriwas won in 2014.
