Haridwar: 2 minor siblings master 150 Yoga 'asanas'

Haridwar, June 18: Two minor siblings from Haridwar have not only mastered around 150 'asanas' but are also quite at ease in demonstrating their expertise in Yoga.

The ancient exercise regimen - believed to be at least 5,000 years old - is practised through different 'asanas' (postures) and breathing exercises. The UN has declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day.

Rohit and Shambhavi, students of Class 6 and 8 at Gayatri Vidhyapeeth, Shantikunj, also spare some time daily to teach Yoga to younger children.

Rohit is adept in 'Shirpeedhasan', 'Gudh Garbhasan', 'Hastbuddh Shirpadasan' and nearly 150 more postures. Elder sister Shambhavi is adept in performing more difficult 'asanas' like 'Hanumanasan', 'Viprit Shalbhasan' and 'Mayurasan' etc.

The siblings said they both were intitiated into Yoga by their father Ravindra Yadav at a tender age of two.

Ravindra, a disciple of Pt. Shriram Sharma Aacharya, is one of the many devotees at Gayatri Tirath, Shantikunj, in Haridwar in Uttarakhand.

"After practicing 'Pranayam' and 'Pragya Yoga' for half an hour daily, we do meditatiton, for which instructions are played daily on the public address system of Shantikunj for all 'sadhaks'," Shambhavi said.
