The Hardayal Municipal Public Library (HMPL), located in the heart of Delhi's Chandni Chowk area, has a rich collection of books in various languages, including Hindi, English, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, and Sanskrit.

The employees of the library had been engaged in a 35-month-long dharna to protest the non-payment of their salaries since 2021.
