Gurung to skip date with the public on October 30
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Chief Bimal Gurung is all set to miss his date with the public on October 30. He will not be making a public appearance on that day.

Gurung charged in multiple cases and also under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA,) is on the run. There is an arrest warrant and a Look-out notice in his name. The police have launched a man hunt for him.
Gurung through an audio clip from an undisclosed location, recently had stated that he would make a public appearance on October 30. Gurung's scheduled appearance on October 30 has become the talk of the town.
Rumor mills have been working overtime stating that Gurung will come out on that day with thousands of supporters. Some went as far as claiming that the Union Government would be providing Central Forces to protect him from the State.
Some even went on to state that that he would make an appearance in Pedong, Kalimpong. Theories were even floated that Gurung would surrender in public on that day so that the police would not be able to annihilate him (to negate the chances of an encounter.)
However putting to rest all anticipation, GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri in a release stated "Our President Shri Bimal Gurung has been advised not to make the proposed public appearance on October 30 lest it gives the West Bengal Government an opportunity and excuse to jeopardize the upcoming talks. Respecting the advise, our President has agreed not to make the public appearance he had announced earlier. Prospective dates for his public appearance will be announced soon."
Giri however did not divulge as to who had "advised" Gurung not to make the public appearance.
"We have been informed that the dates for talks with the Central Government will be announced very soon" claimed Giri.
Giri attributed the withdrawal of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) from the Darjeeling a Kalimpong Hills to the Centre's awareness regarding the ground realities "which is why they have pulled back central forces from the region, despite desperate attempts by the West Bengal Government to continue their deployment and presence, in order to keep Gorkhaland supporters living in a state of fear and intimidation," claimed Giri.
Interestingly the Supreme Court on Friday had ordered the withdrawal of 7 companies of CAPF from Darjeeling and Kalimpong out of the 15 companies deployed in the Hills in order to re- eploy them in poll bound Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat in the near future.
"We look forward to putting Gorkhaland demand on track towards reality in the upcoming talks with the Central Government" stated the release.
