Gurugram Man Pulls Gun on 12-Year-Old Boy After Park Fight

A distressing confrontation unfolded in Gurugram's esteemed Lagoon Apartment, located in the DLF Phase 3 zone, as a quarrel stemming from a children's football match escalated dramatically. The dispute between the two youngsters led to a shocking moment when Prateek Sachdeva, a father of one of the children and a businessman in the liquor industry, brandished a firearm at the opposing child. This alarming act was promptly disrupted by Sachdeva's wife, who intervened by pushing her husband away from the scene, preventing a potential catastrophe.

The incident, which was recorded by CCTV cameras on Tuesday, prompted the victim's family to lodge a formal complaint against Sachdeva. According to Karan Lohia, the father of the victim, the altercation began when his 12-year-old son and Sachdeva's child engaged in a fight while playing.

The situation intensified when Sachdeva, armed with a gun, approached the victim after being informed of the dispute by his son. The footage captured Sachdeva pointing the firearm at the child, with his wife intervening swiftly to deescalate the situation.

The urgent intervention of Sachdeva's wife, coupled with the screams of Lohia's wife from their sixth-floor apartment balcony, begging Sachdeva not to harm their son, highlights the severity of the incident. This event has profoundly affected the young victim, instilling a deep-seated fear of returning to the park where the incident occurred.

Following the complaint, Sachdeva was apprehended and charged under various sections of the Arms Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Despite the serious nature of the allegations, he was subsequently released on bail. "We arrested the accused liquor businessman and seized his licensed revolver. He was released on bail after he joined the investigation. A probe is underway," a police officer disclosed to PTI. Sachdeva's arrest and the ongoing investigation emphasize the legal consequences of such grave actions and underline the community's concern over safety and responsible behavior.
