Gurgaon deputy mayor charged with rape on the pretext of marriage

Gurgaon, Oct 26: In another embarassment for the BJP, the Gurgaon deputy mayor- Parminder Kataria-has been booked for raping a 36-year old single mother on the pretext of marriage on Saturday evening.

It is said that he and the woman were in a live-in relationship for the past 6 months which is when he exploited her on th epretxt of marriage. The woman, in her complaint, said that Kataria had also offered her a job in the MUnicipal Corporation of Gurgaon.

She also said that two of Kataria's friends repeatedly threatened her of dire consequences if she complained. Charges against Kataria also include criminal intimidation. The woman is a single mother of two and had befriended Kataria when she visited the deputy mayor's office for work.

Deepak Saharan, the deputy commissioner of police said,"A case has been registered on the complaint of a lady against the deputy mayor of Gurgaon. The victim has alleged that deputy mayor raped her repeatedly by making false promises of marriage. She has also alleged that he along with two others have threatened her of dire consequences if she complains. The accused allegedly lured her with his powerful connections and offered a job to win her confidence."

Kataria is untraceable since the complain and his mobile is switched off. Meanwhile Congress workers demand action from the Centre, saying,"The government has failed miserably over many issues including women's safety. We demand immediate resignation of Parminder Kataria on moral grounds."
