Forget the riots, Gujarat will now be known for a Muslim teacher building Saraswati temple
Gujarat, June 11: Gujarat is known for all the wrong reasons.....not anymore. A Muslim school teacher in Marida village near Nadiad city in Kheda district has brought Gujarat to the global map when he spearheaded the building of a Saraswati temple with all his savings in the village.
Abdul Chacha aka Abdul Vora said he was always in awe of the Goddess Saraswati ever since he was training to become a primary teacher in the Kathlal taluk.

Now a retired school teacher, Abdul Chacha (as he is fondly known among his students) said,"I am a teacher first and everything else later. For me, my children are my inspiration and theirs is goddess Saraswati. So the temple. he temple took five years to be constructed. Many villagers also contributed whatever they could." Vora had been teaching in the Hindu-majority village for over three decades. THat is not all, he is now teaching his students how to do Pooja.
Incidentally, he belonged to one of the three Muslim families that lived in Andhari village near Nadiad. "I have always got respect from every individual in this village. I served as a teacher here and would like to serve its people," he said.
