Community Power Drives Luxury Car Mega Deal
Although the purchase took place across multiple Indian states, a large number of buyers were from Gujarat, especially Ahmedabad. With nearly 65,000 members nationwide, JITO worked with dealers from 15 well-known automobile brands including Audi, BMW, and Mercedes to secure better rates for its members, according to The Times of India.
Following the success of this initiative, JITO has now set up a separate division focused on community-based bulk buying. The organisation also plans to extend such collective deals to other sectors, including electronics, medicines, and jewellery.
Himanshu Shah, Vice-Chairman of JITO Apex, told the newspaper, "Community buying gives us power to bargain harder. Brands benefit from assured volumes and lower marketing costs, while members get savings. In this drive alone, members bought luxury cars worth ₹149.54 crore, saving ₹21.22 crore collectively."
Expanding Beyond Automobiles
Inspired by the success of their car-buying effort, JITO is now exploring similar opportunities in different product categories. The organisation aims to use its network strength to help members purchase high-value goods at significantly lower prices.
Bharwad Community Adopts Empowerment Model
The concept of community buying is not limited to the Jain community. The Bharwad community has also embraced this idea, linking it with youth empowerment. Under the Bharwad Yuva Sangathan Gujarat, members collectively booked 121 JCB machines and managed to get an average discount of ₹3.3 lakh on each machine, resulting in total savings of nearly ₹4 crore, as reported by TOI.
"Our campaign helps the youth start their own ventures. Those without strong credit scores got JCBs at zero down payment, based only on PAN and Aadhaar verification, with the community standing guarantee for repayment," said Dilip Bharwad, President of the Sangathan.
A New Era of Community-Based Purchasing
The success of these initiatives highlights how unity and collective negotiation can create major benefits for both buyers and brands. With more communities beginning to adopt this model, group buying is emerging as a powerful and practical way to make large-scale purchases in India.
