Gujarat elections: Former Hardik Patel aide Chirag Patel joins BJP
Several former PAAS leaders who were part of Hardik Patel-led quota agitation have joined the BJP.
Former Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Chirag Patel on Thursday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Chirag Patel, once an aide of Hardik Patel, joined the saffron party in presence of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.

Several former PAAS leaders who were part of Hardik Patel-led quota agitation have joined the BJP. In October, Varun Patel and Reshma Patel joined the BJP.
After joining the BJP, some Patidar leaders alleged that Hardik Patel had become a "Congress agent" and was trying to use the agitation to overthrow the present State government.
The Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 will be held in two phases on December 9 and 14. The counting of votes will take place on December 18.
