Guj cops cut a sorry face: Dead man named as accused in Anand riots

Ismail Abdul Vohra, dead for 12 years, has been named by a witness, to have played a role in the riot. Social worker Javed Vohra said,"Ismail died a natural death 12 years ago. While lodging the complaint, it seems that local people overlooked this aspect and named him in the complaint."
Meanwhile, Ismail's family provided his death certificate, which shows March 3, 2002 as the date of his death.
Justifying the goof-up sub-inspector R J Rathwa said,"The name has been entered in the FIR by mistake. Now it is up to the court to take further action in this matter."
Interestingly, the dead man has been booked for unlawful assembly, rioting armed with deadly weapons and loot with intention to cause death. Nevertheless, the real culprit is still absconding.
