Gujarat Bus Accident: Pilgrims' Bus Overturns in Junagadh district, 2 Dead, 15 Injured

A tragic accident in Gujarat's Junagadh district claimed at least two lives and left around 15 others injured after a bus carrying pilgrims overturned on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the bus-carrying nearly 40 passengers-was travelling from Bhavnagar to major religious destinations like Dwarka and Somnath when the accident occurred near Rahij village, close to Mangrol, around 3 PM.

Preliminary findings suggest that the driver lost control after a nilgai suddenly crossed the road, leading to the vehicle overturning. The impact proved fatal for two women, who died on the spot, while several others sustained injuries of varying severity.

The injured were swiftly shifted to Junagadh Civil Hospital, where some are reported to be in critical condition and receiving urgent medical care. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the deceased.

Local residents were among the first to respond, rushing to the scene and assisting in rescue efforts before emergency services arrived. Rescue teams later used heavy machinery, including an excavator, to pull out passengers trapped inside the overturned bus.

Police and district officials remain at the site, overseeing relief operations and monitoring the condition of those injured. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
