Surat, Nov 30: A Surat-based businessman will on Sunday play parent to 111 girls during their marriage ceremony.
Mahesh Savani has actually organised a mass wedding function on Sunday for 111 girls who have lost their fathers. These 111 girls are from different castes. Beside this, Savani has also arranged ‘nikahs' of three Muslim girls at the same occasion.
During the wedding, gifts worth Rs 4.5 lakh including gold and silver sets and other household items will also be given to each girl.
Savani, who is a businessman with interest in real estate and diamonds, says that it is his way to help financially weak families. "I do not ask for any donations for the mass marriage. This is my endeavour as there is nothing more pious than giving away a daughter in marriage," he was quoted as saying in a Times of India report.
The mass marriage function will take place in a school compound in Abrama area of Surat on Sunday.
Mitali who will tie knot during the mass wedding function said that she lost her father in 2009. She has been quoted in the media report as saying that Savani is like a father not only to her but also all the girls getting married in the mass marriage function. "I thank God for sending a person like him in my life," she said.
