Gujarat HC to hear petition on 2002 riots case today

Ahmedabad, July 15: The Gujarat High Court is set to hear a petition in the 2002 riots case, filed by Zakia Jafri, on Tuesday.

Zakia Jafri is the wife of late Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed in the massacre. The petition challenged the ruling of a local court which upheld a special investigation team's (SIT) clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others in the 2002 riots case.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Gujarat High Court had filed a closure report on February 8, 2012. The SIT said there was no evidence against Modi in the riots.
