Grenade Hurled At Engineer’s House In Manipur’s Imphal West, No Injuries Reported

A bomb attack targeted a residential house in Manipur's Imphal West district on Sunday evening, causing property damage but no casualties, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 5:23 pm at Lillong Chajing Mamang Leikai under the jurisdiction of Singjamei police station.

According to initial reports, unidentified miscreants hurled a grenade at the residence of Puyam Rajendro Singh, an Executive Engineer with the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

While no injuries were reported in the explosion, the blast damaged parts of the building and shattered several window panes.

Attack caught on CCTV

Preliminary findings suggest that the attackers arrived in a white Gypsy vehicle before throwing the grenade at the house. CCTV footage from the area captured the moment of the attack, showing the vehicle pulling up near the residence and one of the suspects hurling the explosive before fleeing.

The explosion damaged the exterior portion of the house and broke multiple window glasses. Visuals from the scene showed shards of glass scattered across the ground, highlighting the impact of the blast. Despite the intensity of the explosion, occupants of the house escaped unharmed.

Probe underway, no group claims responsibility

Soon after the incident, teams from the state police, central agencies and forensic experts reached the spot to begin investigations and collect evidence. Security personnel cordoned off the area while officials assessed the extent of the damage.

As of now, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and gathering local inputs to identify the culprits and determine the motive behind the blast.

The incident has once again raised concerns over security in the region, with police stepping up surveillance and patrols in and around the area as investigations continue.
