Greater Noida Man's 'High-Rise' Cannabis Operation Busted, Dark Web Dealings Exposed!
In a remarkable operation in Greater Noida, a man named Rahul Chaudhary been apprehended by the Uttar Pradesh Police for cultivating cannabis within his apartment and allegedly distributing it through the dark web. Chaudhary, holding an English degree, was reported to have mastered complex aeroponic growing techniques from online sources, enabling him to nurture the contraband in a meticulously controlled environment.

This high-tech operation was housed in his 10th-floor flat, where he skillfully managed the cultivation of cannabis, leading to his arrest. Chaudhary's arrest was the culmination of coordinated efforts between local police from the Beta-2 and Ecotech-1 stations, alongside the district's Anti-Narcotics Team. They apprehended him near the P-3 roundabout in the Beta-2 sector.
The police raid on his residence, located at Flat No. 1001, Tower 5 of Parsvnath Panorama, led to the discovery of an elaborate setup for growing cannabis. Authorities seized approximately 2.070 kg of cannabis and 163.4 grams of high-grade 'OG' cannabis, showcasing the scale and sophistication of Chaudhary's operation.
Advanced Cultivation Techniques and International Connections
Relying heavily on advanced aeroponic systems—a method of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil—Chaudhary's setup showcased his substantial knowledge gleaned from various online platforms. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida), Saad Miya Khan, detailed how Chaudhary had ordered cannabis seeds from international websites and used encrypted messaging services to communicate with customers, all in an effort to elude law enforcement detection.
The police further uncovered that Chaudhary's investment in the cultivation equipment ranged from ₹5,000 to ₹7,000 per plant. This hefty investment yielded high-quality cannabis, which he then purportedly sold for over ₹60,000 for each 30-gram yield. The operation's discovery highlighted not only the international links of the cannabis trade but also the lengths to which individuals might go to cultivate and distribute narcotics while attempting to stay under the radar of authorities.
A Sophisticated Operation Unveiled
During the raid, law enforcement officers confiscated a variety of items, including several types of fertilisers, pesticides, packaging materials, and digital scales, indicating the professional level at which Chaudhary operated. The comprehensive nature of the equipment seized underscores the sophistication of the indoor cannabis farm and the serious approach taken by Chaudhary towards his illicit activities.
Following the raid and the subsequent arrest, a case was filed against Chaudhary under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. With legal proceedings now in motion, a detailed examination of Chaudhary’s connections and network is also underway, as authorities work to unravel the extent of his operation and any potential collaborators.
Deputy Commissioner Khan shared insights into the motivations behind Chaudhary's venture into illegal cultivation, attributing his inspiration to various web series and crime dramas. This revelation points to the influence of popular culture on criminal activities, especially concerning the glamorization of drug production and trafficking.
The operation's discovery and subsequent arrest of Chaudhary serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against illegal drug cultivation and distribution, highlighting the innovative methods employed by individuals to grow and market narcotics clandestinely. As the investigation continues, authorities are determined to dismantle any network associated with this case, reinforcing their commitment to combating drug-related crimes.
