Neighbourhood Man Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Minor Girl in Greater Noida

A man was arrested after an encounter with the police for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl from his neighbourhood. The incident occurred under the Jewar police station area and led to multiple teams being formed to apprehend the accused. He was later found hiding in an orchard and taken into custody after firing at the police.

In a shocking incident, a four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man residing in her neighbourhood in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The horrifying event took place on Monday and the police have since apprehended the 40-year-old accused after an encounter later that night. The incident occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of Jewar police station area. According to reports from local authorities, the girl's father lodged a complaint against the accused stating that he lured his daughter into his house before committing this heinous crime. Subsequently, an FIR was registered at the local police station under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape) and provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Police Response

The law enforcement agencies acted swiftly upon receiving information about this case. Additional DCP Greater Noida Ashok Kumar informed that multiple teams were formed to apprehend the alleged perpetrator. Around 8:30 pm, they received intelligence suggesting that he was hiding in an orchard nearby.

Encounter with Police

A team surrounded the orchard whereupon they appealed for him to surrender peacefully but instead met with gunfire from him. "The accused opened fire on it," said Kumar recounting their encounter with him. In self-defence, officials returned fire resulting in an injury to his leg which led to his capture.

Treatment and Legal Proceedings

Follwing his arrest, medical attention was promptly provided for his gunshot wound as he was taken to hospital for treatment. As per standard protocol following such incidents, further legal proceedings are now underway against him.
