Greater Noida Authority Proposes New 3-km Road to Boost Connectivity to Noida Airport

The Greater Noida Authority has proposed a new 3-km road link to enhance connectivity from Noida Extension to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. This initiative aims to address the current travel bottleneck between Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad, facilitating smoother transit to the airport zone.

Sumit Yadav, the additional chief executive officer of the Greater Noida Authority, stated, "This road will boost connectivity and help commuters from Ghaziabad, Noida Extension and Noida to reach Noida International Airport through this new route once the 3-km stretch is built." The project is expected to significantly improve regional mobility.

Greater Noida To Jewar Airport

Project Details and Coordination

The proposed road will connect a 130-metre-wide road with the 120-metre-wide Yamuna City Road. Currently, the 130-metre-wide road extends from Char Murti Chowk to Sirsa village, spanning approximately 30 km. Officials anticipate that the detailed project report (DPR) will be ready within two months.

Coordination with various authorities is crucial for this project. Discussions with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) and other relevant bodies will determine funding shares. A meeting regarding this is expected soon. Additionally, land under the irrigation department's jurisdiction falls along the proposed alignment, necessitating inter-departmental collaboration.

Infrastructure Enhancements

The plan includes constructing an underpass near Sirsa village to cross the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. Furthermore, a rotary is planned at Ghangola roundabout where the 130-metre road currently ends. These enhancements are part of a larger effort to improve connectivity in anticipation of increased traffic once the airport becomes operational by late 2025.

Greater Noida authority CEO Ravi Kumar NG has instructed staff to expedite widening work along the 130-metre corridor. This preparation aims to accommodate future demand and ensure seamless travel for residents of Greater Noida West, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.

Community Response

Residents have expressed support for this proposal. Nikita Singh, a local resident, remarked, "It will be a good move if the two roads are connected to provide a seamless travel experience to the airport. Noida Extension needs better connectivity." The community sees this development as a positive step towards enhancing regional infrastructure.

Officials from Greater Noida Authority's project department recently inspected the site to assess further action on completing this segment. They confirmed that coordination with Yeida is essential for determining construction timelines and procedures.
