Govt offers online facility for installing solar rooftops
New Delhi, May 30: Government has put in place a centralised facility which will enable consumers to apply online for installation of solar rooftops on their premises.
"We have provided for an online facility where consumers can apply for solar rooftops based on requirements and space available with them," a senior official said.

"The consumers, including individuals (residential), commercial, industrial or public institutions, can apply online. After that, service providers will approach (consumers) to provide services."
Given lack of clarity on how to go about installation of solar rooftops, many consumers have shown little interest.
The official said, "In oder to bridge this communication gap between the consumer and service providers, this centralised facility has been provided by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Ministry."
The link is available on the website of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Anyone interested can use http://solarrooftop.gov.in/interest_form.html for the purpose.
The government has set an ambitious target of having 100 GW of solar power generation capacity by 2022, including 40 GW from solar rooftops.
India has a potential to install 124 GW of solar rooftop projects.
The Centre has already approved Rs 5,000 crore subsidy for solar rooftops from the Clean Energy Fund over the next five years. These projects' size can vary between 25 KW and 500 KW.
