Govt launches new website for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana
The website, www.pmjdy.gov.in, will be available both in Hindi and English. It was launched by secretary of Department of Financial Services, G S Sandhu.
People can find information regarding administrative structure, contact details of mission directors and nodal officers.
The website contains information on latest events and circulars issued under the scheme.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, an ambitious scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi provide a host of benefits to every households including a bank account, insurance and a debit card for all. The yojana envisages universal access to banking facilities with at least one basic banking account for every household, financial literacy, access to credit, insurance and pension facility.
In his maiden Independence address from Red Fort, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had announced the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and it was launched across the country on August 28.
According to reports, on an average over one lakh bank accounts are opened every day under the scheme. Report also said that 6.47 crore bank accounts with a Deposit of 4813.59 crore rupees were opened by 22 October 2014.
