New Delhi, Feb 23: President Pranab Mukherjee today said the government will focus on completing the constellation of Indian navigational satellites in 2016 to cater to indigenous navigation and location-based services.
In his address to the joint sitting of Parliament, the President also said the government has launched Science and Technology of Yoga and Meditation (SATYAM) initiative to explore the modern scientific roots of the country's traditional wisdom.
"Focus will be on completing the constellation of the Indian navigational satellites in 2016 to cater to indigenous navigation and location-based services," he said.
Mukherjee said the government has embarked on several significant projects such as National Supercomputing Mission, Improving Fuel Efficiency and Controlling Emissions besides SATYAM initiative.
He said by spreading the network of Common Service Centres, setting up BPOs in small towns and linking land record modernisation with the use of space technology, the government is also taking the benefits of Digital India to common people.
